The Blue Duck Tavern at Park Hyatt
The Blue Duck Tavern at Park Hyatt is a Michelin-starred restaurant in Washington, DC. Their dedication to American craft in both their cuisine and their interior is why they’ve chosen to outfit this space with custom-designed tables and chairs by Thos Moser. Because for all of their accolades, the team here knows one thing for certain – creating a setting like this makes for a remarkable experience.
Eastward Stool
The Eastward Stool fits within the aesthetic of the Eastward Collection, with a back crafted of a steam-bent cherry or walnut rail and a series of slender, durable ash spindles that provide ample support for its occupant. Crafted in the spirit of George Nakashima’s fusion of Japanese and American styles, the stool is crafted for purpose, with an ergonomically-contoured seat, and thoughtfully placed spreaders that enhance durability as well as provide a natural perch for resting feet.
Auburn Chair
Handmade from a single piece of wood, the Auburn Chair’s back flows gracefully into the sweep of its curved rear legs, connected by the sculpted seat to a pair of freestanding front legs. Unified by almost invisible mortise-and-tenon joinery, the Auburn Chair demonstrates the gratifying result of Tom Moser’s endless commitment to – and pursuit of – perfection.
Newport Chair
The Newport Chair finds its inspiration in a dozen low-backed Windsor chairs purchased for a library in 1764 – and used for more than 200 years. Utilizing techniques developed by the Amish to craft wagon wheels, the Newport Chair features a solid, steam-bent top rail held in place by a curving row of tensioned spindles, with wedged ash legs secured through the seat for beauty and durability.
