When I started here, the only woodworking experience I had was building birdhouses with my grandfather. The thing I remember most from early on is the amount of patience people had with me as I learned the craft. It takes time to learn whether an edge is straight or a surface is perfectly smooth just by running your hand along it, which the old-timers understood and let me pick up at my own pace.

That’s true of every aspect of the business here. There’s so much to learn and ample opportunity to try something new. It keeps things interesting.

Most recently, my job has been to coordinate the shipping of our pieces throughout the country and ensure that the delivery crews provide the level of white-glove service we promise and our customers expect.

“I enjoy staying engaged with both woodworking and our customers through our Customer in Residence program. It is really neat to help someone create an heirloom they can sign their name on.”
