One time a guy asked me what I did for a living. He grinned and started shaking his head back and forth as I was telling him. After I got done explaining, I asked him, “Why did you make that face when I was telling you about my job?”

He said, “Because knowing how to build furniture is like knowing a secret.”

You know, he was right about that. There are some secrets to knowing how to create things from wood, starting with choosing the best pieces for the job. I’m proud of the skills I’ve developed that support the rest of the team’s work.

“Getting paid for doing something you enjoy doing is the best kind of job to have.”
