Coal Shovel Stool
The Coal Shovel Stool traces its origin to an unlikely partnership between craftspeople from opposite sides of the globe – Maine and New Zealand. The fundamental design of the Coal Shovel Stool borrows on the New Zealand craftsman’s appreciation for purpose. The seat, carved from a single block of cherry or walnut, mimics a tractor seat or milking stool. Its graceful shape follows natural human contours while highlighting the beauty of its dense grain.
“My head in the sky, feet on the ground. That whole sense of being high. Everything is connected. Life is connected through arcs and circles and spirals. That has had a profound effect on me.”
Eight Leg Writing Desk
Crafted in the spirit of traditional Shaker designs, our Eight Leg Writing Desk is effortlessly beautiful and brilliantly utilitarian. Made with your choice of sustainably harvested North American hardwood, the desk employs eight square, tapered legs that integrate with the cabinet and desktop through the use of traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
“Flying changes the way we look at the earth and gives us a sense of migration—the lives of the birds and the fish.”
