The Inverted Armchair is adapted from our own signature piece, the Continuous Armchair. The compact lines of the Inverted Armchair are more akin to those of master furniture-maker George Nakashima, who used his unique talents to reinterpret early American design with a Japanese sensibility. We used the same labor-intensive process to create this chair’s elegantly sloped back, but flipped the arm for maximum comfort and versatility. We also scaled down the size to create a chair that is consummately comfortable, less Colonial, and altogether different in its modern silhouette.

The smaller dimensions of this chair lend it a variety of uses. Although it is remarkably strong, it moves easily from kitchen to dining room to living room—wherever it’s needed most. Careful craftsmanship and solid hardwood insures that it will endure from this generation to the next.
