For St. Paul School—a fully residential coeducational institution located on 2,000 acres of New Hampshire woodland—a comfortable, transitional space was a top priority. The Friedman Community Center is a contemporary setting for faculty and students to gather for performances, school programs, student organizations, hospitality, and more. Ann Beha Architects was tasked with revitalizing and restoring this historic campus landmark, a Tudor-style building.
Thos. Moser was selected to furnish the space with functional, flexible pieces that adapt to the space’s day-to-day needs. The interior of the space has original oak paneling covering the lower half of the walls—the Thos. Moser furniture was crafted out of sustainably harvested white oak to match this existing element while providing modern contrast. The tables used throughout were chosen to accommodate this true communal space’s casual and ever-changing nature. The tilttop trestle tables provide large surfaces for working or sharing a meal—but can be easily cleared out of the way to open up the room. Metal bases were sourced for the custom cafe and high-top tables, allowing them to be easily moved across the carpet without risk of damage.
