For more than 75 years, The Hotchkiss School's dining hall has been at the center of campus life, serving as a place where students gather, build relationships, and traditions take shape beyond the classroom. As part of a transformative renovation, the new Dining Commons expands seating from 342 to 550 while introducing flexible spaces for studying, mentoring, meetings, and community events. Designed to support every aspect of residential life, the project reflects the school's commitment to creating a warm, welcoming environment where learning and connection extend well beyond mealtime.
Following the successful renovation of the school's Edsel Ford Memorial Library, Thos. Moser was specified for the Dining Commons. The library project established more than a trusted working relationship; it demonstrated the value of thoughtful collaboration, material expertise, and handmade furniture designed to last for generations. Building on that success, the school chose to continue its partnership with Thos. Moser, creating a consistent material palette and cohesive design language that unifies two of the campus's most important gathering spaces while delivering the lasting quality and durability essential to institutional life.
