Consistent with our Vita Collection, the Vita Museum Bench is an acknowledgment of the design philosophy of master architect Mies van der Rohe. Like his work, the Vita Bench makes more of less, constructed of two simple, sophisticated elements and topped with a seat of leather upholstery. The contemporary feel of the bench remains true to the Moser aesthetic, applying the stark simplicity seen in some of our Shaker-inspired pieces.

MATERIAL & CARE

Your Thos. Moser furniture is made from premium hardwood provided by nature. The unique characteristics and the subtle variations in grain and color are important elements in our designs. Great care is taken to skillfully match the individual boards that make up every piece of our furniture.

Our furniture is finished with oil and lacquer. After each piece of furniture is carefully hand-sanded, it receives a coat of our proprietary oil blend. A day’s drying time is allowed, and the piece is lightly sanded, ready for the final finish.

After oiling, our pieces are finished with catalyzed lacquer. This finish is water, solvent, and household chemical resistant and does not require routine maintenance.

To clean, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. When necessary, furniture can be wiped with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Re-wipe any remaining moisture immediately with a dry cloth.

Crafted of a simple laminated cherry or walnut arch and a solid horizontal platform, the structure of the Vita Museum Bench is elemental. The leg is made of a strong laminate, which is bent and cured in place, cementing its form for a lifetime of use.

The seat of the Vita Museum Bench employs an interlocking series of cherry or walnut boards, secured to the seat and reinforced by a pair of solid wooden wedges. Providing ample space for two or even three occupants, the appeal of the bench is enhanced by the use of a tufted cushion. Covered in leather, the contrast of rich cherry or deep walnut and its accompanying cushion marries both solid and soft to provide visual and physical satisfaction.
