​​Your Thos. Moser furniture is made from premium hardwood provided by nature. The unique characteristics and the subtle variations in grain and color are important elements in our designs. Great care is taken to skillfully match the individual boards that make up every piece of our furniture.

Our furniture is finished with oil and lacquer. After each piece of furniture is carefully hand-sanded, it receives a coat of our proprietary oil blend. A day’s drying time is allowed, and the piece is lightly sanded, ready for the final finish.

After oiling, our pieces are finished with catalyzed lacquer. This finish is water, solvent, and household chemical resistant and does not require routine maintenance.

To clean, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. When necessary, furniture can be wiped with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Re-wipe any remaining moisture immediately with a dry cloth.

Fahmida Lam, a residential furniture and accessories designer from Brooklyn who graduated from Pratt Institute, was selected to participate in a weeklong experiential apprenticeship with our Director of Design. The result was the prototype for what became the Fahmida Chair, named in honor of its designer. The chair was launched to the public at Dwell on Design 2014.

The design of the Fahmida Chair is influenced by the Mid-Century Modern style, specifically, Danish Modern. Although inspired by the furniture born of the style, this piece – like any Thos. Moser piece or collection – has its own perspective and is a unique interpretation of its historical antecedents, realized through the lens of designer Fahmida Lam. Leveraging the strength and beauty of hand-finished American hardwoods, such as cherry and walnut, the chair cuts a fresh, airy profile that complements any thoughtful and clean aesthetic.

As the Shaker style served as an appropriate creative spark in classic Thos. Moser pieces, the Danish Modern aesthetic acts here as a vehicle, identified and chosen because of its compatible philosophies, such as; a foremost dedication to quality, a dedication to functionally driven objects, formal simplicity, the characteristic elimination of ornament, use and celebration of traditional materials, and an emphasis on craftsmanship. These characteristics are not only compatible but exemplary of what the Thos. Moser brand has come to stand for, and this piece is yet another iteration of Thos. Moser quality.
