Anatomy of the Eastward Arm Chair

The Seat

Shaping the crisp, straight lines of the Eastward seats requires a deft and steady hand. Each wedged chair leg must be delicately sanded smooth without grinding away too much of the seat – an effort that requires a steady hand, an understanding of wood, and undivided attention to detail.

The Spindles & Arms

The ash spindles’ springiness and careful placement provide subtle flexibility, and the chair’s arms seem to float, suspended atop spindles and supported with through-spindles at the back for a firm, reliable support making this chair one of the most comfortable we’ve ever made.

It’s All In the Details

In the Eastward Arm Chair, the sum of four legs, two arms, a seat, and a back come together in a unity of strength, stability, grace, comfort – and great beauty – in one timeless form.
