Hoover Dining Hall

The new Hoover Dining Hall is a transformational space for the DePauw University campus, offering a variety of rooms that seat 750 students, faculty and staff of this small liberal arts college. Hailed as a much needed replacement to an existing dining hall that blocked important views on campus, the new facility is a well-liked and important hub for the university.

A DINING HALL TO REMEMBER

While searching for the right furniture for its grand new dining hall, DePauw University found
the right partner in Thos. Moser Contract. The result is a rich, inspiring space that students,
faculty and visitors will remember for years to come.

Four specialty dining rooms seat groups of between 12 and 50 and are used for special events, private dinners and a variety of other needs. Each space is outfitted with chairs from Thos. Moser Contract. Similar to the chairs from the main dining hall, they feature custom leather cushions. Custom tables match the design found throughout the rest of Hoover Hall.

The Importance of the Right Partner

This trusting partnership is one of the many reasons that made Hoover Hall such a success. Not only does the university have a chair that is 100% unique to their space, they were able to make minor design changes to include a radius turn in the back of the seat, changing how the chairs stack. In addition, they cut a section out of the vertical bracing of each table which made it easier for students to swing their legs in and out underneath the table top. A lot of final, little details were made after the drafting process, and they were able to incorporate this during the exploration and design phase.
