MERIDIAN COLLECTION:
creative revisitation
Meridian draws inspiration from diverse sources, principally Danish and Shaker influences while adding David Moser’s distinctive creative touch. The Danes believed that it is the designer’s moral duty to be concerned with improving people’s daily lives. A similar doctrine was expressed by Shakers: "Don’t make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don’t hesitate to make it beautiful." Meridian embodies both of these principles. This "creative revisitation" is a hallmark of both Tom and David Moser’s approach to design, and has become a core part of the company’s cultural ethos. Design is the sum of all that has gone before, and the name Meridian suggests the currency of cumulative design ideas among Shaker, Danish, and now Moser.
In addition to reinforcing our commitment to unadorned, graceful design, Meridian is conceived to offer utility and beauty for generations of users. While also available in cherry, this is our first collection to be introduced principally in ash, which allows the grain and texture of the wood to come to the fore and adds a clean, modernist feel. |
