In the late 1970s, Tom Moser spent some time in Denmark and fell in love with the tailored design and perfect proportions that were always characteristics of Danish furniture design. The Astral Bench falls squarely in this clean, structured school, shaping space with strict regularity and dramatic form. When light hits this piece, the room comes alive in a pattern frequency reminiscent of a celestial arc—thus its celestial name.

Please visit for additional photos and information about the Astral Bench.

The Astral Bench is constructed of cherry “matchsticks” joined in a solid, gently curving bench seat, which in turn seems to float in midair. The integrity of the entire bench relies on the careful placement of each separate element and masterful joinery techniques. The bench curves at a 128-degree radius, echoing a natural geometry that softens the linear construction of this piece.

Astral BenchThe Astral Bench can be made in a number of diameters and lengths, and can be built in many Northern hardwoods (call or email for quote). Scroll through the photos above to see it in different sizes, as well as a stunningly beautiful Astral Bench made in American black walnut.

PLEASE NOTE: The Astral Bench can be custom-sized to suit your needs and is priced upon request. It also requires some additional on-site assembly, which is not included in our standard handling and delivery charges. Once we know the size, wood species and final delivery destination of your Astral Bench, we can quote a price as well as any additional set-up charges that may apply.
