ABOUT THE ARTIST
is a fine artist with a BFA from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She spent her post-graduate years studying art at The Art Institute of Chicago and then received a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University, College of Law. After spending time in law and as a businesswoman, Rebecca returned to creating art full time in 2004. Recently, Rebecca spent two years traveling and studying art in Europe.
Until she moved to London in 2004, Rebecca was primarily a figure sculptor who complimented her work with extensive drawings. While in London, she studied at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art in Chelsea and Wimbledon College of Art under several well respected tutors. It was during her time at Heatherley’s that Rebecca began to paint. In 2005 she was invited to paint with Tony Rothon and Sara Nutley, two well recognized English painters, at their art studio in Hampstead, North London. This experience has had a profound effect on her work.
While the figure remains a dominant theme in Rebecca’s paintings, she also explores landscape and still life subjects. Her paintings reflect the spirit and character of life in a representational style that clearly shows her interest in light, color and composition.
This summer Rebecca traveled to Spain to join Mr. Rothon, Ms. Nutley, and several other artists to participate in a week of landscape painting in the area surrounding the ancient town of Ronda, in the Malaga region. These new canvases and more will be shown
in our showroom in Chicago
starting on October 18, with a reception that evening from 5 to 9 pm.
