Artist Statement:
"I am a mother, animal lover, and admirer of nature. As an artist, I believe you can see all of these aspects of my life reflected through my work.

For this show I visited the Boston Public Garden and gathered much inspiration from the trees, and flowers there. I aim to paint my subjects with a strong effect through the use of vibrant color and contrast.

I hope that my work will leave a lasting impression and be thought of the next time you visit the garden."

About the artist:
Neiley Harris is an oil artist who has been painting professionally for over 15 years. She works from her studio in Monmouth, Maine where the landscape itself is bold and inspiring. Although the summer season is relatively short, it provides the spectacular floral subjects that she has been painting most recently.

Originally, she was taught watercolor techniques by her mother and mentor Annette Lavallee. However, in 2001 Neiley and Annette opened the North Atlantic Art Gallery in Hallowell, Maine where she began to explore acrylic and oil painting with great success. Her strong use of color and bold subject matter have become more and more evident as her art evolves.

Throughout the years she has taught private art classes and displayed her paintings at many art shows and galleries. Her accomplishments range from Best in Show awards to selective commissions such as the Maine State Fisheries and Wildlife print. Some of her other work includes solo exhibits and charitible events such as Lucky Pup Rescue's "Pet Project". She has also created art for commercial labels and interior design projects.
