Thos. Moser presents the works of Sylvia Gonzalez

Thos. Moser San Francisco showroom presents the works of artist Sylvia Gonzalez. All works will be on display January 7th through April 26th, 2014.

Join us for an Artist Reception on Thursday, February 27th from 6-8PM.

Sylvia Gonzalez works are a mix of soft pastel and monotype which are recognized by the richly textured backgrounds done by layering solid color fields interspersed with layers of imagery, finished with pastel and charcoal drawings. She has long loved the medium of pastel and also has a series of large scale pastel drawings of fruits and vegetables that are sensual with color and space.

She grew up in the Midwest and in 1984 graduated with a BFA from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. She traveled through Europe in 1985 and apprenticed with her uncle Wilfredo Arcay, a master printer of serigraphy in his Atelier in Paris. Sylvia came to San Francisco in 1988 where she worked a myriad of jobs including picture framing, waitressing, office assistant, hardwood floor apprentice (way too hard), and ended up exploring the world while trying to figure out what it means to be an artist. In 2001 she had a daughter, Lucia, and moved from Fairfax to Petaluma where she has been living and working as a full time artist since. Sylvia keeps a studio in a 100+ year old chicken coop on the outskirts of Petaluma.
