Moser Contract
Back to News & Events
March 5th, 2007
Chicago, IL (March, 2007 ) –
As part of our "alternative gallery space" program, which highlights national and local artists in each of our showrooms, we are pleased to announce that our
Chicago showroom
will feature the work of Diane J. Huff, a resident of Cary, from
March 5 through April 30
.
The subtle vibrancy of the clay monoprints, rarely seen in the Chicago area, is created from a novel process that involves painting with pigmented clays. The images are then transfered to paper from the clay slab base on which she works. The exhibit will feature 12 of her latest creations, and each piece is unique and unrepeatable.
“It’s a new idea that captured my imagination because it combines my background in ceramics with a love for abstract painting,” Huff explained. “Working with liquid clay and paper gives me immense freedom, and the materials leave a memory of their presence on the clay slab in future images to add richness and sometimes serendipity. The multitude of visual elements dance and tumble, recede and come forward, and look both aged and new.”
Her work, which is abstract in nature, has gained popularity with interior designers and is an elegant counterpoint to the simplicity of the handcrafted cherry furniture of Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers. Huff is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has been painting and working with ceramics for over 25 years.
There will be an open house reception with the artist on Saturday, March 10th, from 2 to 5 pm.
